About Us
Antonia was born in Germany and moved to Elizabethtown, Ky., in 1985. After high school, she attended the University of Louisville (UofL) and earned a BA in Political Science. Antonia continued her education attending Indiana University - Bloomington and earning a Master’s in Public Affairs, after which she returned to Kentucky. Not really finding her career niche, she returned to UofL and earned an MBA.
Stuart grew up in southeastern Kentucky and moved to Louisville to attend the University of Louisville. He studied accounting, earned his CPA and began his career in accounting in 2000. After spending five years in public accounting, Stuart moved into the private sector. He has since held various positions as assistant controller, plant controller, and corporate controller.
We met in 2004 and married in 2007. In 2010, Antonia decided to learn photography - more than a point-and-shoot. From there, Stuart joined and we began shooting as a hobby together. After attending workshops and conferences, learning from local professionals in the area and online webinars, and spending a lot of time shooting, we decided to turn our hobby into a business.
While we are both very analytical people, we also have a creative side. Stuart enjoys music and has played guitar and drums in several bands during high school and college. He has dabbled in drawing and creative writing as well. Antonia enjoys cross stitching, volunteering and event management. Her day job includes writing and graphic design.
About EM Dash Photography
EM Dash Photography started in the fall of 2013. Our name came from a combination of Antonia's background in communications—the em dash punctuation—and one of Antonia and Stuart's adopted dogs named Dash.
The em dash is used to indicate a change in thought, and in the case of EM Dash Photography, it indicates a change to pursue a love of photography as a business.
For several years, we have fostered dogs. Dash, a miniature pinscher, was a foster dog that was adopted in the spring of 2013. We have had several adopted dogs and cats over the years and currently have two cats—Ilhan and Roy Kent.
EM Dash specializes in sports, event, pet and corporate headshot photography in the Louisville/southern Indiana (Kentuckiana) area. We shoot on location, whether in your home or a location around town. We also have an interest in landscape and macro photography.
